Weleda Sea Buckthorn Hand Cream Review

In early December, I did a little post about these amazing limited edition Weleda hand cream gift sets. My all time favourite Weleda moisturizer is the Calendula Face Cream which I use on my face, body and hands. Never did I think to venture away from it until I was kindly sent the *Sea Buckthorn Hand Cream.

This is the gift set which came with a mini body lotion, that hasn't been used yet, in the same scent.

Description: Dry, thirsty hands get replenishing moisture and revitalizing nutrients with this fast-absorbing hand cream. It's an intensely nourishing treatment that repairs, restores and protects your hands from skin-damaging elements. Sun-soaked organic sea buckthorn oil is packed with essential fatty acids that lavishly moisturize, and pro-vitamin A and vitamin E, which smooth, soften and strengthen your skin. Formulated together with antioxidant-rich organic sesame seed oil, your hands are protected and rendered palpably soft and smooth. With a citrusy fragrance from sun-drenched essential oils from mandarins, oranges and grapefruits, it looks like you have a fresh, solid grip on caring for your beautiful hands.

The bar was set really high for this product and it didn't fully disappoint. The tube is the same apothecary style tin as their other creams, I have a love/hate relationship with these. The scent is definitely strong and citrusy, but doesn't linger for too long. Sea buckthorn oil is one of my favourite oils, I appreciate that this hand cream contains some because of it's ability to aid in the healing of skin ailments like eczema. That being said, I have a little bit of eczema on my hands and find the calendula face cream to be much more effective at healing and soothing it. This Sea Buckthorn Hand Cream nourishes and moisturizes my hands without leaving any greasy residue behind, which means you can go about your business without worrying about paw fingerprints all over the place. It's still a beautiful hand cream and I'd highly recommend giving it a try but, I think I'll stick to their calendula line.

The set retails for approx. $14.99 CAN. While the sets are likely no longer available, you can still purchase the hand cream alone. Can be purchased at Weleda, Well.ca (set still available), and most health food stores.
